 Road film is a build-up of dirt, diesel smoke, and other contaminants from the vehicle’s engine or picked up in the atmosphere. When a vehicle moves at highway speed, it generates friction and static. This forms an electrostatic bond to the contaminants causing them to bond to your vehicles surface just as steel shavings to a magnet.  

There are only 2 ways to remove road film. The first is to use a high pH alkaline soap and create friction on the vehicles surface by brushing to release the static bond. Or you can us a 2-step touchless process by first applying a low pH soap followed by a high pH soap. 

 The 2-step process is superior because it produces a neutralized, film-free surface that guards against future build-up longer. 2-stepping also results in a cleaner vehicle surface and effectively cleans and brightens aluminum surfaces.
